  1. Congrats to Erica and Jessica and to this proud grandfather! Human love and resilience can make us all winners. Thanks for a nice trip down memory lane and those candy cigarettes were just sooo cool back in the day! Can you imagine trying to pitch that at a marketing meeting today???

  2. Another great article. It brought back many great memories as I had very similar experiences. The only advice I’d add for today’s parents is to back off just a little and let kids be kids–they will be fine as you’ve said.

  3. Congratulations to Eric and Jessica!!! They are so kind and respect one another, they are going to be amazing parents. Love all of the memories in this one and it comes at great timing for me anyway. Our youngest is graduating high school next month and I have been thinking a lot if we have prepared all of our kids (young adults) for the future, for life, with so many pressures and stress in the world right now. It is a constant worry as a mom and as any parent. I just hope we have set the groundwork and that they all stick to their morals and are happy and kind. Parenting has been and will continue to be my favorite and toughest job. It is an amazing love to feel and worth all of the worry that comes with it. Thanks for all of the memories shared in this latest writing and for making a parent feel good about what we do.

  4. Another great column, Tim. Congrats to Jessica and Eric. And just like that…you will be writing a piece about their daughter leaving for college. Life happens so quickly. Slow down so you are able to watch it race by.
